The GTLD Net will hold two lectures this winter on topics of interest to the gifted and talented with learning disabilities population. They are as follows:
November 15, 7:30 pm: Strategies and Tips for Teaching Writing—Tracy Topping, a master tutor specializing in working with students with learning disabilities will explain why writing is so hard for many GTLD students and help parents see the long view of the writing process. There will be a networking hour from 6:30-7:30 pm. The lecture will take place in the media center of Walter Johnson High School (6400 Rock Spring Drive) in Bethesda.
January 17, 7:30 pm: A Focus on Focus—Dr. Deborah Norris, founder of the Mindfulness Center of Bethesda, and Marc Sickel, founder of Fitness for Health, will present about methods for improving focus without the use of medication. There will be a networking hour from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The lecture will take place at Fitness for Health (11140 Rockville Pike) in Rockville.
