The MCPS Parent Academy will be holding a four-session series of workshops about advocating for your special education child.These free workshops are facilitated by the Montgomery County Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health. You can attend any number of the workshops, which will be held at Shady Grove Middle School (8100 Midcounty Highway in Gaithersburg).
Language interpreters and child care are available for each workshop. You can register online. These workshops are great way to get specific questions answered and to gain practical knowledge about the school system and special education.
Topics and dates for the workshops are as follows:
October 21, 7-8:30 p.m.: Advocating for your Child
October 28, 7-8:30 p.m.: The Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
November 4, 7-8:30 p.m.: Problem Solving with the School
November 11, 7-8:30 p.m.: Monitoring Your Child's Progress
